Job Title: Irrigation Fitter
This permanent, full-time position has a salary range of $48,110
- $58,816 per annum, plus up to 14.25% superannuation and a 9-day fortnight.

Qualifications/Training/Experience:
- Substantial experience in large scale irrigation systems
- Experience in safe and effective use of all equipment used in irrigation operations.
- Irrigation installation qualification or relevant experience
- Experience in developing and working programmed irrigation schedules
- MRWA competency certificate in Basic Worksite Traffic Management (desirable)
- Possession of a current C Class Driver’s License
Skills:
- Ability to set priorities, manage own time and meet deadlines.
- Sound communication skills.
- Ability to correctly interpret drawings/specifications and undertake work to acceptable standards
- Excellent team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of safe work practices in a park environment.
- Sound knowledge of fault diagnosis, programmed maintenance, repair and installation of irrigation systems
- Sound working knowledge of all pumps, switchgear faults and associated pumping equipment.
- Sound knowledge of bores and their construction
- Sound knowledge of sprinkler types and their operation
- Conversant in collection and preparation of data, i.e. pumps, bores for maintenance schedules
Key Responsibilities:
- Test irrigation systems for satisfactory operations and replace or repair as necessary (eg. Pipes, valves, sprinklers etc).
- Develop and implement in assistance with the Assistant Supervisor Irrigation and Supervisor Parks Maintenance, the yearly irrigation maintenance programs.
- Monitor and report and faults, damage, etc on equipment / plant to Assistant Supervisor Irrigation and or Supervisor Parks Maintenance
- Program irrigation controllers and monitor watering times and schedules within designated areas.
- Carry out any minor additions/alterations to existing irrigation systems as directed.
- Adjust sprinkler heights for optimum operating capacity.
- Collect bore flow data on a monthly basis or as required.
- Complete materials requisition forms for authorization by the Assistant Supervisor Irrigation and or Supervisor Parks Maintenance.
- Ensure correct use, clean and tidy presentation of Irrigation Vehicles and equipment at all times.
- Liaise with other departments, as and when necessary for irrigation maintenance and modification.
- Clean and maintain irrigation water tanks.
- Be available for after hour’s callouts if required.
- Work in a manner, which is consistent with Occupational Safety and Health requirements, and promote safe work practices with other employees.
- Use safe manual handling techniques.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and information.
- Attend relevant training as directed by the Parks Supervisors.

- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required.
Essentials:
- Irrigation installation qualification or relevant experience.
- Substantial experience in large scale irrigation systems.
- Sound knowledge and experience of use of all equipment relevant to irrigation (ie. bores, sprinklers, pumps, fault diagnosis, maintenance, repair etc).
- Experience in developing and working programmed irrigation schedules.
- Ability to correctly interpret drawings and specifications.

- Good knowledge of safe work practices in all irrigation operations.
- Possession of current WA ‘C’ Class license.
Desirables:
- Possession of a current “MR” (medium rigid) or “HR” (heavy rigid) drivers license.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Current Safety Awareness Card.
- MRWA worksite traffic management.
- Computer skills.
- Qualifications in horticulture and/or turf.
