APS 3 Schools Learning Assistant at Museum of Australian Democracy in Canberra


Employment Type: Part-time (5.5hrs per day – 27 hours 30 minutes per week)

Duties:
  • Present high quality museum based school and community programs, both individually and with co-presenters.
  • Ensure spaces used by school groups are made ready for use.
  • Ensure resources such as costumes, printed and audio visual material is set up and packed up as required.
  • Assist with maintenance of learning resources.
  • Contribute to MoAD Learning by attending meetings and undertaking specific and agreed administrative and project work.
Selection Criteria:
  • Well-developed oral communication and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver, with confidence and flexibility, successful learning programs
  • Proven ability to work individually and as part of a team, with a range of people – including fellow presenters and other internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong empathy with the vision and purpose of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, knowledge of and an interest in Australian political and social history. Tertiary qualifications in Australian History, politics, museum studies or education would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to apply: the APS values, participative management practices, workplace diversity principles, and work health and safety within a work and team environment.
