The township of Mount Baker, strategically located on the Albany Highway, only 50km from the coastal city of Albany and the scenic town of Denmark is Plantagenet’s administrative hub, surrounded by picturesque landscape and growth industries
Responsibilities:
·         To undertake the cleaning of the Shire's halls and other community facilities as required.
·         To clean and maintain the following Council and community infrastructure:
·         Shire of Plantagenet Administration Building;
·         Toilets adjacent to the Shire of Plantagenet Administration Building;
·         Plantagenet District Hall;
·         Frost Park Pavilion;
·         Sounness Park and Frost Park toilets;
·         Council Depot toilet, office, and muster room;
·         Inspect cleaning of Skinner Pavilion toilets and change rooms;
·         Frost Park Sheep Pavilion, including the change rooms and toilets;
·         Agricultural Centre and external toilets;
·         Toilets at Wilson Park;
·         Toilets and pavilion at the Mount Barker (West) Cemetery.
·         Clean all male, female and disabled toilets on a daily basis and ensure soap, toilet paper, hand towels, and other related hygiene items are available for use.
·         Clean and polish as required all internal and external fixtures of the Council's halls and other buildings, including but not limited to:
·         Windows and glass areas, doors and glass areas, walls, floors, kitchen, oven, fridge, desk tops, chairs, tables, curtains, ceilings etc
·         Ensure the hall is in a clean and tidy condition prior to all functions.
·         Ensure seating and tables are set up at halls and other facilities as and when required prior to functions and removed after functions.
Requirements:
·         Basic oral and written literacy and numeracy skills to enable liaison with work groups and communication with members of the public.
·         Well-developed interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
·         Well-developed time management, organization, and administration skills
·         Ability to organize and prioritize work commitments
·         Ability to work unsupervised
·         Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team based environment
·         Strong customer service focus and commitment
·         Knowledge of commercial cleaning applications and processes
·         Knowledge of building and general grounds maintenance
·         Sound working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health requirements and safe work practices
·         Previous experience as a commercial cleaner.

·         Minimum two years experience in related fields.

·         Facilitate and support the development of new and existing local community groups, organizations and services by providing assistance in areas such as funding opportunities, network contacts, service planning and needs identification and analysis.
·         Liaise with community groups to identify needs and assets.
·         Support, plan, implement and evaluate approved programs.
·         Research and prepare grant applications for projects in conjunction with community groups.
·         Manage the provision of recreation, library, pool, ranger and emergency services by developing, delivering and reviewing service and community service expectations ensuring need are consistent with strategic objectives.
·         Guide staff members as required to maintain productivity and morale.
·         Provide leadership and supervision over the Council's Recreation, Swimming Pool, Library, Ranger and Emergency Services sections.
·         To attend, as requested, Council or Committee meetings.
·         Act as an active and contributing member of the Senior Management Group.
·         Ensure each member of the Community Services Division is appraised and counselled at least once annually and an annual development report is prepared for the Chief Executive Officer.
·         Liaise with key community stakeholders on community development initiatives.
·         To keep Council appropriately informed on the current state of activities in the Division and to highlight any point likely to influence Council operations.
·         Co-ordinate and manage projects to ensure completion within budget and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
Requirements:
·         Sound knowledge of community groups, services and community development practices and principals.
·         Highly developed verbal & written communication skills.
·         Sound knowledge of community, tourism, heritage, environmental, ethnical and cultural issues and activities.
·         Sound knowledge of grant application writing techniques and grant fund management.
·         Understanding of emergency and ranger related legislation.
·         Highly developed public relations and interpersonal skills.
·         Sound organizational, time and project management skills.
·         Strong customer service focus and commitment.
·         Advanced computer skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, publishing and database systems.
·         Knowledge of library operating, framework and principles.

·         Formal qualifications or extensive experience in Human Services / Community Development.
